
A specially designed tele-economics course aimed at professionals in the wireless community and professionals in industries with a strong interest in wireless communications or mobile broadband applications will be held in May at Electrum, Kista. The Mobile Operator Business course addresses the business, regulatory and engineering aspects of wireless operations. It covers detailed technical concepts as well as areas of economics and business models. A strong focus is put on “learning by doing”.
The heart of the course is a business game where the participants, in a group exercise, will experience managing an operator in a competitive market. The course is spread over three weeks with a 2-day session each (6 days in total) and consists of three integrated parts:
Telecom markets and regulations
Network deployment and economics
Mobile operator business
The lectures are given by leading researchers and professors from KTH, such as Dr. Jan Markendahl (course leader), Professors Jens Zander and Claes Beckman (project manager), Dr h.c. Östen Mäkitalo, as well as invited guest lecturers from industry and government. The sessions contain lectures, exercises and home assignments, as well as a computer assisted business game.
Potential participants may be key personnel at telecom operators, project and business managers, sales and procurement staff, corporate executives, as well as financial analysts, lawyers, and business professionals in the telecom sector in general
