The game industry is changing. Games are being transformed from disks on a shelf to living digital services. Building an AAA game is already one of the most complex undertakings in software engineering, and the change into services is adding even more complexity. This talk will touch on DICE – the company, the current state of the game industry, trends, new challenges, and a deep-dive into the technology behind games as a service.
Magnus Nordin has been working in software engineering for 30 years, publishing his first game in 1983. He has worked in wide range of areas such as compilers, large-scale web systems, storage technology, mobile technology, resilient and scalable distributed systems, and games. He is currently working as Technical Director at DICE, based in Stockholm, Sweden.
