Topic: An introduction to the Games Industry – Past, Present & Future; Mobile & Otherwise

Abstract: The games industry is huge. And unlike other entertainment industries, it is growing at an amazing rate, thanks to new technologies, social networks and platforms. In just 45 minutes Jonas Antonsson will try to shed some light on just how big the industry is, why it matters, where it is going and how it might have a greater impact than many people would expect. He will focus on mobile games and the relevance of the games industry for other fields of business, like Telecommunications. If you are interested in games and/or entertainment then this is a session you cannot miss.

Jonas Antonsson is an Icelandic “serial entrepreneur” / “crazy person” who has focused jonas-antonsson_web_4on the games industry for almost a decade. He has founded, funded and operated independent development studios. He has actively supported small independent teams, taught courses on game design at Reykjavik University, been involved with KTH’s Business Competence Development Program and acted as strategic consultant to both established developers and publishers. His main focus areas have been browser-based MMOs, mobile games and the Free-2-Play model in relation to hard-core games. He recently joined independent publisher Paradox Interactive as VP of Mobile.
