Indoor & outdoor positioning in the internet of moving things

Friday Seminar
Date and time: March 10, 2017 14.30 PM - 16.00 PM
Place: EIT Digital Open Area, Electrum, KISTA
Speaker: Warwick Taws
There is no question the Internet of Things is already upon us. Due to the nature of the IoT, many end devices are relatively small and portable or movable, and are therefore powered by batteries or energy harvesting – this changes the equation and we need to start talking about the Internet of Moving Things.

Wittra has proven many times that there is a high customer value attached to the concept of “where” in addition to “what” and “how much”. Knowing where moveable IoT end devices are located when events happen can help drive compelling new business cases and unlock high-impact customer value.

Apart from an overview and comparison of location technologies for the IoMT, we will showcase a new technology to address the unique challenges presented by Moving Things, and cover several real world customer cases that illustrate the value argument in this arena.

Key points of the presentation:

1/ The challenge of Moving Things in the IoT.

2/ The “Third Arena” – combined indoor and outdoor positioning.

3/ New positioning technology to address the Third Arena.

4/ Customer cases to prove the value argument.
