WiB – Wideband Reuse One

WiB is a new system proposal for addressing the challenges of the broadcasting and mobile industry. For the broadcasting industry, it can save the energy consumption of digital terrestrial television (DTT) broadcasting, reduce the capital and operational expenditure, and increases the operational flexibility. For the mobile industry, it enables broadband service to the rural populations by harnessing the excellent propagation characteristics of UHF frequency band.

The objective of the WiB project is to develop a new system proposal for cooperative provisioning of digital terrestrial television (DTT) broadcasting and mobile broadband services in UHF frequency band. The new system concept, namely WiB, has a potential to address the challenges of the broadcasting and mobile industry. For the broadcasting industry, it can save the energy consumption of DTT broadcasting, reduce the capital and operational expenditure, and increases the operational flexibility. For the mobile industry, it enables broadband service to the rural populations by harnessing the excellent propagation characteristics of UHF frequency band.

Teracom and KTH will work together to make a detailed system design and assess its benefit from the technical and business perspectives.
